Service Description
Dive into the world of wheel throwing with our hands-on sessions designed to help you refine your skills. Whether you're new to the wheel or looking to improve, this class will guide you through the essentials of pottery making. In these sessions, you’ll learn the foundational techniques of wheel throwing, starting with wedging and centering to prepare and balance your clay on the wheel. You’ll then move on to pulling and forming cylinders, which will serve as the base for your pieces. As you gain confidence, you’ll explore the art of shaping your creations to reflect your unique style. We’ll also discuss important aspects such as drying times, trimming possibilities, and how to attach additional clay features like handles or surface decorations. To complete your pottery experience, we’ll go over glazing options and demonstrate a few techniques to add beautiful, decorative finishes to your pots. Let’s bring your creative ideas to life at the wheel! What to bring: Please bring a hand towel that you don’t mind getting dirty. Since working with clay can be a bit messy, you might get some on your clothes or experience light water splashes, so wear something comfortable that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Please bring an apron if you want to. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as well. Your pieces will be available for pick up in 3 - 5 weeks after the last session.
