Service Description
Build a complete set for your morning ritual. In this intermediate wheel throwing series, you'll design and throw a full coffee and tea collection — a teapot set complete with matching cups, a sugar and honey jar, a snack dish, and a pour over. Along the way, you'll refine and master multiple ways of making lids — galleries, flanges, and insets — so every piece you throw closes with a true, confident fit. We'll also look at the work of various ceramic artists for inspiration, and you'll start bringing your own voice into your designs rather than working from a single reference. You'll round things out by learning a colored slip decorating technique to finish your set with your own style. Class Format 8 weeks, 2.5 hours per session. Prerequisites You must have completed a beginner wheel throwing series. You should be comfortable centering and pulling 3 pounds of clay easily. Independent Study Independent study hours are highly encouraged for this class. At the intermediate level, class time is focused on new information and technique — putting in independent practice time, during or after class sessions, is what helps you fully execute each project and get the most out of the series. Clay usage is unlimited throughout class. Your class cost includes 8 firing tickets, which you can use across any of your projects throughout the course. Unused tickets don't expire — use them in a future class or independent study module, and you can always purchase more if you need them. Age Requirement 15+ What to Bring Hand towel — the studio does not provide towels or paper towels. Apron (optional). Trimming tool — we'll cover which one to use in your first session if you need to add to your kit. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting messy. The studio provides basic tools, but feel free to build your own kit with items like sponges, wire tools, and ribs. Pickup Policy Pieces are ready for pickup 10–14 days after your last session. The studio does not store pieces for more than one month after your class ends — please finish and pick up your pieces promptly. Come throw a set that makes your coffee and tea moments feel a little more your own.
