Service Description
Create functional pottery you'll use every day. In this 8-week wheel throwing series, you'll move beyond basic forms and start throwing pieces designed for real kitchen use — pulling handles, opening tight forms, piercing and texturing surfaces, and shaping lids that actually fit. Projects covered in this series may include: Garlic / ginger grater — piercing and texturing a curved surface for grating Herb stripper — throwing a form with holes sized for stripping stems Spoon rest — shaping a simple, functional curve Citrus juicer — throwing a ribbed dome and matching catch bowl Salt cellar — a small lidded form with a well-fitted lid Pie / casserole dish — a wide, flat form with a fluted or scalloped edge Berry bowl — a pierced bowl with a matching under-plate Garlic keeper — a lidded, ventilated storage form Mortar and pestle — a thick-walled bowl paired with a hand-thrown pestle Large serving bowl — pulling tall, even walls on a wider form Projects shown are examples of what we'll cover, and the exact lineup may shift week to week. Class Format 8 weeks, 2.5 hours per session. Prerequisites You must have completed a beginner wheel throwing series, or Be comfortable centering 2–3 pounds of clay on your own. Clay usage is unlimited throughout class. Your class cost includes 8 firing tickets, which you can use across any of your projects throughout the course. Unused tickets don't expire — use them in a future class or independent study module, and you can always purchase more if you need them.
