Service Description
This follow-up course is for students who have completed a Beginning Wheel Throwing class and are ready to deepen their relationship with the wheel. The emphasis is on building confidence, consistency, and control while expanding what you’re able to make. You’ll continue strengthening essential skills like wedging and centering, but with a more intentional focus on efficiency and repeatability. From there, we’ll work on throwing taller and slightly larger forms, developing more even wall thickness, and improving overall balance and proportion. You’ll learn techniques that help your pieces feel more deliberate and refined, rather than rushed or uneven. As the course progresses, we’ll explore shaping variations, trimming considerations, and basic handle attachments to complement your forms. We’ll also discuss drying timelines and glazing options, with guidance on choosing finishes that enhance your work. This class bridges the gap between beginner and intermediate wheel throwing — ideal if you’re comfortable on the wheel and want to push your forms further while strengthening your fundamentals. Age: 18+ What to bring: Please bring a hand towel that you don’t mind getting dirty. Clay work can be messy, so wear comfortable clothes and shoes that can handle splashes. An apron is optional.
